Propagation of chicken embryo fibroblast (CEF) cells require specific serum to grow. Chicken embryo fibroblasts (CEF) play a major role in cellular virology as they support the growth of many pathogenic viruses. However, propagation of this cell line requires specific serum for the cells to grow to confluency, unlike the other cell lines grown at RDV. The serum identified to be suitable for this cell line is fetal bovine serum (FBS). The specifications of the FBS are listed on the table below
